Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image without stretching it?

Keep "Keep aspect ratio" switched on. If you enter both a width and a height, the image is scaled to fit inside that box. If you enter only one value, the other is calculated automatically.

Can I make an image larger?

Yes — enter a percentage above 100 or a size bigger than the original. Keep in mind that enlarging cannot add detail, so the image may look softer.

Does resizing reduce the file size?

Smaller dimensions almost always mean a smaller file. Halving the width and height leaves about a quarter of the pixels. For an even smaller file, also choose WebP or AVIF as the output format.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Every image is resized inside your browser and never leaves your device.

What size should I use for social media or email?

A width of 1080–1920 pixels works well for social media, websites and email. Most phone photos are 4000 pixels wide or more, so resizing them to 1920 pixels makes them much smaller with no visible difference on screen.
