Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the text recognition?
Clear screenshots and sharp scans are usually recognized almost perfectly. Handwriting, unusual fonts, low resolution and curved pages reduce accuracy.
Are my images sent to a server for OCR?
No. Text recognition runs with Tesseract inside your browser. Only the language data is downloaded from this site; your images never leave your device.
Can I extract text from a PDF?
Yes — use the PDF OCR tool to make a scanned PDF searchable, or PDF to Text for PDFs that already contain text.
