Limitations
Very large files (about 10 MB per minute at CD quality) and limited support for tags.

About M4A

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert WAV to M4A?

Add your WAV files to the converter above. M4A is already selected as the output, so conversion starts right away. When a file is ready, click Download, or use Download all to get a ZIP.

Will converting WAV to M4A reduce the sound quality?

M4A is a lossy format, so some inaudible detail is discarded to make the file much smaller. At 192 kbps or more, hardly anyone can hear the difference. Keep your WAV original if you want a perfect archive.

Which settings should I use for M4A?

AAC at 192 kbps sounds as good as MP3 at 256 kbps. Use 256 kbps for Apple Music quality, or 96–128 kbps for audiobooks and podcasts.

Are my WAV files uploaded anywhere?

No. The WAV to M4A conversion runs entirely in your browser using ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your files are never sent to a server, so even private recordings stay on your device.

Can I convert several WAV files to M4A at once?

Yes. Add up to 50 files; they are converted one after another, and you can download each M4A file separately or all of them together as a ZIP archive.
