Frequently asked questions

How fast should a GIF be?

For a slideshow, 500–1000 ms per frame works well. For smooth motion from video frames, use 40–100 ms (10–25 frames per second).

Why is my GIF file so large?

GIF is an old format with weak compression. Make it narrower, use fewer frames or a longer delay. For video clips, an MP4 or WebM is usually much smaller.

Can I make a video into a GIF?

Yes — use our Video to GIF tool, which picks the frames from your video for you.
