What is JSON5?
JSON5 is an extension of JSON that is easier to write by hand. It allows comments, trailing commas, single-quoted strings, unquoted keys, hexadecimal numbers, Infinity and NaN.
Why convert JSON5 to JSON?
Most APIs and programming languages only accept standard JSON. Converting removes comments and the other JSON5 features so the data can be read anywhere.
What happens to comments?
Standard JSON has no comments, so they are removed when JSON5 is converted to JSON.
