Frequently asked questions

How much smaller does minified CSS get?

Typically 15–30 percent, depending on how many comments and how much indentation the stylesheet has. The size before and after is shown below the result.

Is it safe to minify CSS?

The minifier only removes comments and whitespace that has no meaning; strings, calc() expressions and selectors such as descendant combinators are kept intact. Comments starting with /*! (usually licenses) are always kept.

Can I format SCSS or Less?

Basic SCSS and Less files usually format fine, because their syntax is close to CSS. Advanced features such as mixins with complex arguments may not be indented perfectly.
