Frequently asked questions
Does the formatter validate my XML?
It checks that the document is well-formed: every tag is closed, nested correctly and attributes are quoted. If not, it shows the line and column of the first error. It does not validate against an XSD schema.
Is text content changed?
Text inside elements and CDATA sections is kept. Formatting only changes the whitespace between tags; minifying removes whitespace-only text between tags and, unless you keep them, comments.
Can I format SVG, RSS or config files?
Yes. SVG images, RSS and Atom feeds, Android layouts, Maven pom.xml files and .NET config files are all XML and can be formatted here.
